Second Annual Stanford-Cal Lightweight Dual: Novice Eight Defeats Stanford

On April 24, Cal Lightweight women competed at Redwood shores against Stanford in their second annual dual. The conditions were good with flat racing water for both races.

The varsity women, coxed by Megan Klein, fought hard down the race course ending in a Stanford victory. The eight, stroked by Melissa Schwab, and backing her, Jackie Corcoran, Kristine Romano, Connie Chung, Susannah Flood, Sarah Bermingham, Renee Johnson and Veronica Hanna pulled a 7:26 down the course. This followed Stanford who pulled a 7:07.

The novice women, coxed by Emily Matienzo, defeated Stanford for the second time this season with an 18 second margin. The eight, stroked by Sarah Bone, followed by Ashley Connelley, Brittany Davis, Dierdre Norris, Diana Fong-Hor Lam, Frances Kawamoto, Lara Sinicropi-yao, and Molly Watts pulled a 7:22 down the course. Stanford followed finishing with a time of 7:38.

Next weekend, Cal Lightweights compete in Sacramento in the WIRA Championship Regatta.
