Cal Lightweights Take First in Total Team Points

On August 17, Cal Lightweight men and women competed at the Blue Heron Redwood Sprints Regatta at Eureka. The team as a whole took first in total team points. Both men and women had an exceptional day of racing.


Cal Lightweight Varsity Men took first with an 11 second lead over Willamette which was followed by Humboldt, Oregon and Cal Lightweights "B" in the Men’s Varsity Eight event. The Varsity Four took first in their seven boat race with a 5 second lead over second place. The Varsity Light 4 took second after Seattle Pacific by only a little over a second.

The Varsity Women started their day with a 16 second lead over Willamette in the Varsity Lightweight Race. Later, in the Women Varsity Eight Race, the women took third place behind Willamette and Humboldt.

The Novice Men took second to Humboldt in the Novice Eight race by under 3 seconds. In the Novice Four race, the novice men took first over six other boats winning by three seconds over the Seattle Pacific.

In the Novice Women’s eight race, the women took first by two seconds over Humboldt followed by Oregon, Willamette and Sonoma State. This was the first time the Cal Novice Women have taken first at this event. The Novice Light 4 defeated Willamette in a dual.
